G4TV.com has posted a great video depicting more of The Old Republic’s story. As much as I wanted Knights of the Old Republic 3, the storyline and gameplay for The Old Republic is looking better and better with every video that is released for it.

BioWare continues to flesh out the deep Star Wars: The Old Republic universe backstory with the fourth Lance Henriksen-narrated Time Line trailer. While not the most visually stirring type of trailer, fans of the Star Wars universe and BioWare will appreciate the fireside-chat like retelling.

Today’s last and final demonstration of the PAX Star Wars: The Old Republic demo shows off trooper gameplay footage. Oh also – /dance confirmed in this demo! We also got to see a little glimpse of the death/respawn system – RETURN TO MEDCENTER is the death option in the demo when the person demoing the game died. We are hoping to have the full gameplay demo video up today if everything goes well with the bandwidth at PAX

Star Wars: The Old Republic GamesCom 2009 Interview

G4tv.com managed to score a great interview with The Old Republics Lead writer Daniel Erickson from this years GamesCom. Daniel talks mostly about how different The Old Republic will be from other MMO’s as well as the game’s combat, writing process, gameplay consequences, and much more.

“We have this very long story arc that we can bring things back to. You may have completely forgotten that when you were at level eight, that you killed this guy you didn’t need to kill. His family hasn’t forgotten it and they’re going to find you 20 hours later and hunt you down, and you’re going to have to deal with the ramifications. One of the really fun things there is that you may be a completely different person at that point. You might have decided to give up your crazy ways from when you were a kid. And now at level 40, you’re a pretty good and these guys come to you. You have to decide, ‘Okay, am I going to cover that up? How am I going to handle it?’ These are the things that really make the galaxy feel alive.”

Hey everyone, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted and I apologize, I’ve been extremely busy lately. It’s a little late but none the less here is the most anticipated video yet with the first looks at The Old Republic compliments of Gamespot.com.

My impression of the game so far is, it looks great and I would probably play it. I love the fact that the whole game is voiced. Very cool.

Check out the video below:

“One of the most hotly anticipated PC games on GameSpot at the moment is Lucasarts and BioWare’s upcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Star Wars: The Old Republic. Mixing George Lucas’ epic sci-fi universe with BioWare’s successful role-playing experience seems like a pretty safe bet after the success of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic series. That game mixed successful MMO pillars, such as combat, progression, and exploration with something BioWare excels at: compelling, narrative-rich storylines. Announced late last year, details about the game have slowly emerged since then, and so far, we’ve seen a number of Empire and Republic classes, including the bounty hunter, smuggler, trooper and Sith. We finally got a brief play of SWTOR as a Sith warrior at GamesCom 2009 in Cologne, Germany.”

roles and hundreds of thousands of recorded lines of dialogue!

More Star Wars: The Old Republic Gameplay Footage.

Check out some more gameplay footage from The Old Republic below, basically this isn’t anything new, it’s everything packed together in a video consisting of gameplay from the alpha stage of The Old Republic.

Source: Examinar.com

A compilation of footage from the alpha phase of testing of Star Wars: The Old Republic has leaked out onto the net (below). The footage shows a some of the worlds, a sampling of monsters to fight, and game play mechanics. BioWare has announced three classes so far, The Trooper, The Smuggler, and The Bounty Hunter. The Jedi and the Sith are presumed. The video focuses on The Trooper and Jedi/Sith. Work is already being done on the lightsaber battles, and force abilities. The Trooper is fleshing out as well, with heavy gunfire, a grenade attack, and a flame thrower. In one scene, there is use of a jet pack. This is probably the Bounty Hunter class, if Boba Fett is any indication.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is one of the most anticipated new MMORPGs. It is slated for release in 2010, but still too early for a definitive date. BioWare has said the game will be more story driven than most other MMORPGs. This might be a nice change. This would require a lot of content, as there is supposed to be a separate story for each of the eight classes. The stories can change if the player goes toward the light or dark side. If they make the stories too short, while it will give players the opportunity to create a new character and see another story, it might limit how much time players spend playing the game. If it follows a monthly subscription fee format, this will cost them revenue.

Also, the game will be fully voiced. Again this will require a lot of content and extra costs to hire voice actors. They will be able to get around part of that with alien languages, where the same phrase is repeated while the subtitles are read. This was a mechanic in the two Knights of the Old Republic games. There will be interaction with the Non-Player Characters (NPCs) dialogue, through choice of what the player’s character says. Different choices of dialogue will change the interaction with the NPCs, and how the story unfolds.

Check out a great video discussing how the Treaty of Coruscant was formed.

Some quick information on The Treaty of Coruscant:

The Treaty of Coruscant was the peace treaty that brought an end to the Great Galactic War in 3,653 BBY. The Galactic Republic was strongarmed into the treaty following a crippling stalemate in the war against the Sith Empire. While representatives of both factions met on Alderaan to discuss the terms of peace, the Sith Empire launched an unexpected assault on the Republic capital world of Coruscant.

Following the Sacking of Coruscant, the victorious Empire forced the Republic into a highly disadvantageous agreement. The Treaty forced the Republic to withdraw their troops and Jedi forces and abandon many long-time allies and outlying systems to their enemy. The result was an uneasy peace which allowed the Sith time to consolidate their growing power.

G4TV have posted a great video interview BioWare Executive Producer Tom Nichols at this years E3 2009 conference. The video starts out discussing what went into the making of the trailer, as well as showing some actual gameplay of the demo. Some of the demo gameplay consists of being on a battleship and its under attack and you have to make a choice whether or not to kill the captain or not, which in turn, effects the whole rest of the game.. that sounds pretty awesome.

Anyway, I won’t spoil anymore for you, check out the video below!
