Coruscant has been finally revealed for The Old Republic. It looks pretty damn sweet!
Courtesy of EUCantina.net:
“Yesterday at the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX), Bioware announced and showed off a new planet for their upcoming new MMO The Old Republic: the capital planet of Coruscant! Rarely seen in video games, the below trailer (via Darth-Hater.com), sums the planet and such more than I ever could. Enjoy!”
Obsidian still wants a crack at Knights of the Old Republic 3
Holy shit!! This is great news! I figured with the release of the Old Republic, there would be no chance at all for a Knights of the Old Republic 3, just for the simple fact that all the developers keep saying that TOR is Knights of the Old Republic 3, 4, 5, 6, 7+ all wrapped into one game.
This does not mean that it will happen but it’s definitely something to give a little hope, especially to the KOTOR fans who do not want the MMO. Anyway, reported by EUCantina.net, in a recent interview with GameBanshee, Obsidian’s CEO Feargus Urquhart had said the following:
“I hope LucasArts gives us a shot at making KotOR III.“
That is so awesome!!
Here is the post by EUCantina.net:
Since 2004, Obsidian Entertainment, the creative studio behind Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords has stated their interest in created a third game in series. When Bioware and Lucasarts announced their MMO The Old Republic, fans figured they would have to settle with that being “Kotor 3, 4,5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.”
Well, that’s not exactly true; not if Obsidian’s CEO Feargus Urquhart has his way with things. In an interview recently with GameBanshee, Urquhart replied to being asked if he thought there would ever be a “true” Kotor III by saying,
“I don’t really know. A part of me hopes that there will be, because I think we can do things in the more single player story based RPGs that you just can’t do in an MMORPG. Like I said, I really hope that there is one, with BioWare busy on the MMO; I hope LucasArts gives us a shot at making KotOR III.“
Not a surprise there, really. Obsidian and Lucasarts both have acknowledge faults in timing for Kotor II, and many think, if time had been given, both could have made Kotor II better and more complete.

The Old Republic New Concepts & Info
Here are a few more concept art for you guys to have a look at. I honestly don’t think that they look too bad. These are the some of the “interesting” characters that you will be running into throught your journey in The Old Republic.
In other news, the official Old Republic site has posted an in-depth article pertaining to the Character Development of The Old Republic. This included how the bring their concept art to 3D as well as choosing colors, styles, and costumes. You can check that out here.
I’m in the process of setting up a forum for the site too, where you can join up and rant and rave and speak your mind without prejudice. Stay tuned, it should be up shortly. I’m proud to present as well, our new sister site, www.battlefront3.net, where we will keep you up to date on all the news and rumors on the “rumored” battlefront 3!

Star Wars: The Old Republic – Why aren’t they listening to us? Contest!
I am seeing lots more disgruntled comments.. and a few good comments coming. One was a really long one but I wanted to address this:
Well, I suppose this all leads to the question of why aren’t they listening to us.
Why? Because it’s impossible to please everyone. It would be nice if they came out with the MMO and then release a single player version of it to please both sides, but that’s probably not going to happen. I’m not sure whether it would take too much time or too much money?
So, I thought i’d run a little contest. I’d like to hear people’s thoughts on why they aren’t listening to us. It seems like there are two sides to this dilemma, the side that wants and loves the idea of a MMO and the side just wants a normal KOTOR single player game. It’s kind of like how everyone wanted Multiplayer for The Force Unleashed… that didn’t happen.
Just reply to this thread with your reason why they’re not listening to us, the best answer and comment will win themselves a free Star Wars PC game of their choice!
Make sure you leave your email address! The winner will be contacted on December 15th and their free game will be shipped out the following day.
I was thinking of adding a forum as well for people to discuss our dilemma. Let me know if you’d be interested.
Possible Knights of the Old Republic 3 Concept Art?
Gamersyde.com has posted what could be some concept art from the rumored and long awaited Knights of the Old Republic. Whether or not these are KOTOR3 concepts or not is still unknown. They definitely have the look and feel in my opinion, here’s what Gamersyde.com had to say:
“Found in the dark corners of one LucasArts artist’s FTP, here are the supposedly first Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic 3 concept arts. We don’t know yet if it’s totally legit, but we’ll let you know as soon as we have more info on this topic.”
Hopefully, we’ll be able to find out on the 21st when LucasArts & Bioware announce their secret project.
Check out the concepts below.
BioWare working on Knights of the Old Republic 3…
Some more rumors, i’ve dug up. According to GamesRadar.com “Ex-employee’s” of LucasArts have leaked a bunch of information about the rumored upcoming Knights of the Old Republic 3.
“An ex-employee of LucasArts has leaked details regarding a number of titles in development, including a BioWare-developed Knights of the Old Republic MMO.
The source has told Kotaku that he is one of 75-100 employees laid off in a massive shake-up yesterday, including the producer of the LEGO Star Wars and Indy titles.
As well as KotOR 3, the ex-staffer spilled the beans on production going ahead with Battlefront 3 (developed by Free Radical), a new (non-LEGO) Indy game we already knew about and a Wii lightsaber game.
Considering the leak comes from an ex-LucasArts employee, we’re not expecting confirmation of these titles any time soon. Still, we know that LucasArts and BioWare are working on something together. Just have to wait and see.”
LucasArts Hiring MMO Staff…
Awhile back, a couple posts were made via IGN.com and TheForce.net that LucasArts were hiring staff as well as MMO testers, presumably for the new Knights of the Old Republic 3 – MMO. Of course, we don’t know whether this was actually what they were hiring for, but with a lot of wishful thinking, we can always hope that it was for Knights of the Old Republic 3.
Here are the excerps from both websites including the job posting from LucasFilm.
According to EUCantina.net, LucasArts is currently recruiting MMO testers. Hmmmm, for a KOTOR MMO? See the job description from the Lucasfilm site:

And from IGN.com:
LucasArts has recently advertised for testers for an MMO, further stoking rumours that the much cherished Knights of the Old Republic is to be given the massively multiplayer treatment.
The posting, picked up by TheForce.net, unsurprisingly gives little away beyond the job basics – but it serves as an indication that there is an MMO currently being worked upon by LucasArts, and whether it’s the heavily rumoured Knights of the Old Republic remains to be seen.
Earlier this year, LucasArts revealed that it is working with the original game’s developer BioWare on an as yet undisclosed title, but it is nothing to do with Knights of the Old Republic. We’ll endeavour to get an answer out of LucasArts once the sun rises in America.
EA to Play in Knights of the Old Republic 3 – MMO…
Again, there is no official word on the new Knights of The Old Republic. But according to Electronic Arts chief executive, John Riccitiello there most certainly will be! According to him as well, it will have a massively multiplayer online component to it. This would be amazing if it really happens, i’ve been waiting a long time for Knights of the Old Republic 3!!
“N. Evan Van Zelfden in Los Angeles warns, watch out World of Warcraft. In an interview at E3 this week, Electronic Arts chief executive John Riccitiello said that EA is working on the next version of Star Wars game Knights of the Old Republic, and it will most certainly have a massively multiplayer online component to it.
“We’ve got two of the most compelling MMOs in the industry in development,” said Riccitiello. The first title, based on the Warhammer property, will launch soon. “And the one that people are dying for us to talk to them about — in partnership with Lucas, coming out of BioWare, which is, I think, quite possibly the most anticipated game, full stop, for the industry at the point when we get closer to telling you about it.”
Does Riccitiello mean the oft rumored Knights of the Old Republic Online? “Yes,” he said.
Moving into MMOs is an essential component for any gaming company, and it’s a big part of the reason Vivendi merged with Activision, for that company’s World of Warcraft MMO.”
But EA is firmly on that path now, with a KOTOR MMO, which would sidestep the consoles owned by Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. “Increasingly, people are going to be talking about direct-to-customer in our business,” said Riccitiello. “I think we’ll be talking about it louder than most.”

BioWare’s Upcoming MMO Based in KOTOR Universe…
So, as we wait and wait for an official conformation for our most waited upcoming game, Knights of the Old Republic 3. There are tons of rumors floating around out there and none of them are for certain. The biggest rumor out there is the fact that knights of the Old Republic 3 is supposed to be a MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online ).
“A source close to BioWare confirmed to us today that the studio’s upcoming untitled massively-multiplayer online RPG will be centered around the Star Wars universe, specifically that of Knights of the Old Republic, which the developer released in 2003. The game garnered critical acclaim and spawned a less-popular sequel, released by Obsidian two years later.
The game is being developed by the company’s Austin studio, formed in 2006 and headed by BioWare Creative Director James Ohlen, whose past credits include the first KOTOR, Neverwinter Nights, and Baldur Gate’s I and II.
This is not the first Star Wars-related MMORPG: Star Wars Galaxies debuted in the summer of 2003, followed by several expansions. It was generally well-received by fans and critics, but subscriber numbers plunged and never recovered after a controversial gameplay update in 2005. It’s estimated that the game now has fewer than 100,000 subscribers and less than 20,000 active players.
It’s currently unknown whether or not EA, which acquired BioWare last week, will act as publisher for this title, or if the studio had a previous arrangement with another publisher.
Expect the game sometime in 2009.
Editor’s Note- As no media from the game has yet been made available, the screenshot above is from the first KOTOR title.
Editor’s Note 2- We’ve gotten several emails asking about the validity of this news. The only rumors we post here at Primotech will explicitly be stated as such.”
