Finally, some information on how you’re going to pay for your monthly subscriptions to The Old Republic have surfaced.

LucasArts president Darrell Rodriguez has told GamesIndustry.biz that while no specific business model details have yet been announced for the forthcoming BioWare-developed MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic, a variety of options might be utilized – including subscriptions and micro-transactions – in order to appeal globally.

For those readers wondering, subscription is a business model currently used on Star Wars: Galaxies; you pay a monthly fee and you play the game. Micro-transaction means you pay for only the game itself and for whatever additional content you want. Normally it’s not needed for the game, but the balance for that in some MMOs makes it seem like those who pay for stuff have an advantage. We will have to wait and see, but having both would be very unique and interesting– a staple of both Bioware and Lucasarts.

Coruscant has been finally revealed for The Old Republic. It looks pretty damn sweet!

“Yesterday at the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX), Bioware announced and showed off a new planet for their upcoming new MMO The Old Republic: the capital planet of Coruscant! Rarely seen in video games, the below trailer (via Darth-Hater.com), sums the planet and such more than I ever could. Enjoy!”

G4tv.com managed to score a great interview with The Old Republics Lead writer Daniel Erickson from this years GamesCom. Daniel talks mostly about how different The Old Republic will be from other MMO’s as well as the game’s combat, writing process, gameplay consequences, and much more.

“We have this very long story arc that we can bring things back to. You may have completely forgotten that when you were at level eight, that you killed this guy you didn’t need to kill. His family hasn’t forgotten it and they’re going to find you 20 hours later and hunt you down, and you’re going to have to deal with the ramifications. One of the really fun things there is that you may be a completely different person at that point. You might have decided to give up your crazy ways from when you were a kid. And now at level 40, you’re a pretty good and these guys come to you. You have to decide, ‘Okay, am I going to cover that up? How am I going to handle it?’ These are the things that really make the galaxy feel alive.”

The official Old Republic site has released some more concepts and information for us, this time on a new planet. The Hutt planet is the newest planet to be added to The Old Republic, which actually looks pretty cool. If you want to get some more information on the planet Hutt, check out this link here. The concepts look decent enough, but i’m sure that a lot of people won’t like them though as they look similiar to the others. Let me know what you think!

I noticed we have some new members on the forums, but there’s not a whole lot of action going on. I’m in the process of getting a new skin up and going on them (I don’t like the one that’s on there now). We’re thrilled to announce the next playable planet in Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, the Hutt homeworld known in The Old Republic timeframe as Hutta. Nowhere in Star Wars™ lore has Hutta been so richly realized, and players will be able to explore the first true interactive realization of the “Glorious Jewel”.

Here are a few more concept art for you guys to have a look at. I honestly don’t think that they look too bad. These are the some of the “interesting” characters that you will be running into throught your journey in The Old Republic.

In other news, the official Old Republic site has posted an in-depth article pertaining to the Character Development of The Old Republic. This included how the bring their concept art to 3D as well as choosing colors, styles, and costumes. You can check that out here.

So, we finally have our first video documentry. It is interesting to say the least, they mainly discuss how it will so much better than KOTOR 1 & 2 and how much bigger it will be. You will see some pre pruduction footage that they claim that they havn’t showed anyone else, besides us, the fans.

Overall the footage looked pretty good to me. I’ll be interested to hear everyone’s thoughts.

Some great info on the storyline for The Old Republic has been released via the official Old Republic website. Even though it is a MMO, it still sounds awesome and I may be just compelled to try it. The article talks about your character development through-out the game:

I noticed we got mentioned on the official The Old Republic community and I just wanted to point out a couple things. Obviously there is a lot of tension between the people who want The Old Republic MMO and those who don’t want it.

Now this was the original post:

“Oh, but there are! You wouldn’t find many of those here although. And I really doubt, that the majority wants a MMO. There could be more, but it surely isn’t the majority!

…and frankly said, I think so, too.”

To be honest, I would say that there really is no majority, there’s a lot of people who want it and there’s a lot who don’t… and then there are the people who just don’t care and will take anything as long as it has Star Wars on it.

I’ll tell you why, because when people go to an official forum, they either like the game or they’re harassed and ridiculed for not liking it. “If you don’t want the game why are you here?”, “Get lost troll”, ect..

It’s not just this game, it’s for everything. Try rolling over to another official forum and express dislike for what they’re doing.

I just thought it was interesting, how much people, at least who visit this site, arn’t looking forward to the MMO. I’m not that excited for it, but, chances are i’ll play it, and you never know, I just may love it.

Just remember that anything posted here is our own personal opinions, post away your comments, good and bad, I love to hear them!

Anyway, a little bit of new that was posted awhile ago.

EA and LucasArts executives have told videogaming247 that they are targeting World of Warcraft-sized success with Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Star Wars: The Old Republic has no release date as yet, and has only been confirmed for PC, although Gibeau suggested that a console version was “under consideration”.

I’m hearing a lot of controversy over the fact that the new Knights of the Old Republic is going to be a MMO. I’m actually surprised that so many people don’t like MMO’s. Personally, I wasn’t really that excited that it will be an MMO, i’m not an MMO player.

I do have a life, I work and spend time with my lovely fiance, I just don’t have time to get into a MMO, nor do I really wish to pay a monthly fee to play it. Where as if it was a regular Knights of the Old republic, I can sit down and play it whenever I have the time, with no fee’s.

I guess i’m not the only one who has these views as well. I’m sure it will still be a great game though, and I would like to try it someday, but unfortunately, that probably won’t be until i’m retired.
